AUTUMN NEWS – SEPTEMBER 2008
------------

Although not everything has gone to plan this year and what ever does in the music business or in life for that matter, the overall success enjoyed by the band both electrically and acoustically has led to a surge in interest for Cold Flame and in particular lots of new bookings for the Autumn. This is now reflected in the website gig guide. The Colne Blues Festival in Lancashire is regarded as the premier blues festival in the north of England and one of the best in the UK with bands and artists booked from across the Globe. Our new crew recruit Paul Carter took some excellent action shots from the festival which will be appearing on the band myspace site. Cold Flame marked their return to live action in late August with two shows highlighting the band's wealth of quality original rock/blues material. Reaction to these shows was tremendous and the band would like to thank punters both for their support and enthusiasm as well as the organizers and in particular Cliff Stocker and Alison Goode for giving the chaps the opportunity. You know how it works. If you would like to see the band play again next year maybe on the British Stage at Colne then please email or write to Pendle Leisure -check out the following website www.bluesfestival.co.uk

TULL TRIBUTE SHOWS
In addition to the varied rock and acoustic gigs booked already, this Autumn once more see Cold Flame showcasing the music of Jethro Tull in some of the premier venues in the Midlands and North of England. A two hour plus show packed with Tull classics and a few surprises. The first of these shows is on Sunday September 21 at The Diamond in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire where the band will be supported by ‘good time feel good’ rock band Monkiejamm. Based in Grantham, Lincolnshire their website is www.myspace.com/monkiejamm There are plans to record at least one of these shows for future release so if you fancy being on a live album and celebrating Tull music tongue in cheek then you know where to be. See the gig guide for further details and links.

COLD FLAME IN EUROPE
In July Cold Flame Acoustic headlined the 3rd Vienna Folk Festival in Austria as part of a brief trip to the country. You can read about the tour on the blog at www.myspace.com/coldflameuk Suffice to say it really was a terrific trip for all concerned and showed not for the first time that Cold Flame should never limit themselves to just playing in England. As a direct consequence, the band are now sorting out details to both return to play in Austria as well as France, Italy, and maybe Egypt during the next few months. As a taster, Cold Flame will be performing in Italy in December 2008. Quick mention should be made of our Austrian friends Freespirit who toured the UK during late July and August. We organized a date for them in our home town with The Affliction of Margaret see their website at www.myspace.com/theafflictionofmargaret playing an acoustic set. A packed house enjoyed a great evening and thanks must go to the punters for coming out in numbers on a damp Thursday night in late August to check out the fine acoustic music on offer.

ACOUSTIC RESIDENCY
At least in the short term, CFA will be performing monthly through the Autumn in a small local venue – The Junction Inn in Glossop. The plan is to play on the last Sunday of each month although the October date has had to be moved to the first Sunday in November. Each performance will begin around 4.00pm and feature at least one support act. Special guests so far confirmed include singer songwriters Neil Fisher and Lisa Lovett [Sept 28], The Affliction of Margaret [ Nov 2] and young blues guitarist Tim Malkin [Nov 30]

NEW RECORDING PLANS
Work will begin this Autumn on two new studio albums scheduled now for release in 2009.Cold Flame are once more linking up with old favourites Shipwreck Studios and engineer Wally in Glossop as well as The Shed Studios in Romiley run by John Slater. Material will be brand new original songs written by members of the band.

NEW DISTRIBUTION COMPANY TO WORK WITH COLD FLAME RECORDS
Having linked up with The Record Village Company over the last two years as the band's chief record distributor for Cold Flame merchandise, it is with regret that recently due to unforeseen circumstances, the Lincolnshire based Company ceased trading earlier this year. Cold Flame have now secured a new long term distribution deal with UK based AQUILA ENTERTAINMENT who will be distributing all Cold Flame merchandise on a worldwide basis as of July 1st 2008.All enquiries to Aquila Entertainment email dave@aquila-entertainment.com

THE RADIO ARCHIVES
In June 2008 Cold Flame released a special limited edition studio album The Radio Archives to raise money for Cancer research and also James Wilmot a young boy from Glossop known to the band who suffers from severe brain damage requiring constant medical attention. The response to this initiative from local people especially has been tremendous and it has been decided to press a further batch to continue the fund raising having sold out of the initial order. This will be plugged in local press and on local radio in and around Derbyshire. 'The Radio Archives' CD priced at £5 is available from the following outlets in Glossop - St.Philip Howard Sports College, St.Marys Road [01457 853611] The Glossop Chronicle Office, High Street West [01457 852669] and Uno Fashions [01457 857537] in Glossop Market Arcade. You can also purchase the album direct from the band – email info@cold-flame.co.uk Payment is accepted in cash or if you prefer then cheques can be made payable to The James Wilmot Fund or Marie Curie Cancer Care.

AND FINALLY...
We welcome two new CF crew members to the fold. Paul Carter has been using his photographic skills and his expensive camera to good effect recently and capturing the band at full throttle. You can see some of his latest pics at www.myspace.com/coldflameuk Amanda has now set up a really nice CF acoustic website for the band at www.myspace.com/cfauk

Be seeing you....
