WEYFEST - SATURDAY SEPT.1ST /SUNDAY SEPT. 2ND
THE RURAL LIFE CENTRE TILFORD,FARNHAM ,SURREY.

It has been some time since we posted a 'special feature' news item on the website but without doubt Weyfest 2007 warrants special treatment not least because Cold Flame were joined on stage by the very wonderful Anna Phoebe on electric violin fresh from her lengthy European Tours with Jethro Tull and also because we dont get to play too many gigs down in the south of England.Anyway it was a great thrill to play with Anna.She is both a superb musician and a lovely genuine person who just also happens to be young and gorgeous.No wonder Martin Webb prefers her to Eddie Jobson.Stay tuned for pics from this event which we will post asap on this page.Anyone out there with pics from the festival;we would love to see and post on our site. You can find out more on Anna Phoebe at www.annaphoebe.com or her myspace site www.myspace.com/annaphoebe and of course there is also info on Anna on Jethro Tull's official website at www.jethrotull.com.

The band had a great time both on and off the field of play over the weekend and for once this year the weather was very very kind.Special mention to our musical friends Leatherat,PJ Wright and The Ric Sanders Trio who all took time out to come and watch us as did the fabulously talented Chris Conway and Vicky Clayton,and it was great to once more link up with our good friends from A New Day Records - Dave Rees, Matin Webb, Keith Jacket and Terry the Innocent.The band would also like to praise the Weyfest staff for all their hard work perserverence and dedication.

For the record Cold Flame played on the Sunday at 4.00pm on the Old Kiln Stage where we had an excellent sound crew who kept things ship shape throughout our one hour plus set even when the monitors started feeding back briefly.Over the two days many excellent acts played on this stage and highlights included Banbury folk rockers Leatherat,acoustic Vicky Clayton and The Robin Bibby Blues Band.Interestingly enough Cold Flame probably played to the largest single crowd watching performances at this stage over the two days which in itself was reward enough.The setlist,which admittedly altered on the day once we knew Anna would be playing which was about half an hour before we went on, featured a number of Jethro Tull songs alongside some Flame original material and was as follows....

THE SETLIST

BOMBAY MIX*/THICK AS A BRICK/CROSS EYED MARY PLAY IN TIME GUITAR INSTRUMENTAL*/LOCOMOTIVE BREATH FATMAN JIGGERY POKERY* PUSSY WILLOW/FLUTE SOLO/SERENADE TO A CUCKOO THE SEVEN SEAS* AQUALUNG BROADSWORD

* Cold Flame original music.

BAND COMMENT re WEYFEST

Cold Flame would like to record their appreciation to the organisers of The Weyfest 2007 and indeed of the many tremendous acts and performances that occured over the two days.There must have been many occasions in the build up to Weyfest where due to the hassles experienced this summer questions were asked as to whether it was wise to continue.Thankfully everyone rode out all misfortunes and the event duly took place.

Weyfest 2007 proved that the resilence and determination shown by the organising committee was totally justified and definitely worthwhile for both musicians and punters alike.Yes it would have been nice to get bigger crowds there but the solid foundation now established at the Rural Life Centre bodes well for the future.Cold Flame are sure in echoing the sentiments made by all the perfomers/bands who came along to play in saying that the festival was brilliant from both sides of the stage.Do yourselves a big favour and come along to next year's Weyfest to be held the first weekend in September 2008 by checking out info as it is posted on the net over the next few months especially on their website at www.weyfest.co.uk

EMAIL FROM WEYFEST re COLD FLAME'S PERFORMANCE

'Thank you very much indeed for your email. I cannot express my gratitude enough for receiving your support after what was extremely hard work both in the preparation and in the running of the event over the weekend. I am so glad that Coldflame enjoyed it and have to say that I did manage to see about 5-10 minutes of you before being called off to some problem or another and thought you were fantastic (and so did the sound guys).

I would love to post your email on the Weyfest site in due course if you don't mind. I will be updating the site from time to time over the next few months with photos, videos, feedback from bands and audience etc. and want to keep the whole Weyfest festival thing 'live' throughout the seasons until Weyfest 08 begins. I hope to see you there!

Many many thanks and I wish you and the band all the best.
Regards,Ali [Weyfest Coordinator]
